Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery will be a replication of Kenner Discovery, which has emerged as one of Louisiana’s most successful open-enrollment public charter schools. We are a school that wraps health sciences around every part of the curriculum. We are an academically successful school maintaining an A or B grade level every year since inception. Discovery students receive a rigorous education in health and science fields, and learn about good nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, physical fitness, and a sustainable environment through experiential hands-on learning. The school day begins with a morning meeting lead by the principal. The morning meeting consists of cheers, chants, and affirmations to get students excited and prepared for the academic day. After morning meeting students go to homeroom where they focus on core subjects such as reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and spelling. Students also attend a different co-curricular class each day of the week. Students go to lunch in the café daily and enjoy outdoor recess either before or after lunch.
