Our Mission

Harvest Commons School’s mission is to cultivate strong minds, strong connections, and strong character through hands-on, project-based learning rooted in nature, community, and meaningful real-world experiences.

About Us

At Harvest Commons School, we believe childhood should be filled with wonder, connection, and meaningful learning. Our school is a joyful, close-knit community where children are known, valued, and encouraged to grow into confident, curious learners. Rooted in a hands-on, project-based approach, students engage deeply with the world around them—whether tending the garden, caring for animals, or exploring rich academic content through real-world experiences. Every day is designed to spark curiosity, build strong relationships, and nurture a genuine love of learning.

As a free public charter school serving elementary students, Harvest Commons blends high-quality, standards-aligned instruction with a warm, nurturing environment that supports the whole child. We are small by design, allowing us to truly know each student and meet them where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally. Through strong partnerships with families and the community, we create a place where children feel safe, inspired, and empowered to thrive. At Harvest Commons, we’re not just preparing students for the next grade—we’re helping them grow strong minds, strong character, and a deep sense of belonging.

Student Activities

Harvest Commons School has student and parent-led clubs that take place after school; these clubs are based on student interests from year-to-year.

Harvest Commons School offers a truly unique learning environment by blending rigorous, standards-aligned instruction with hands-on, real-world experiences that bring learning to life. Rooted in a Reggio-inspired, project-based approach, students don’t just learn about concepts—they experience them through meaningful work in the garden, interactions with goats, chickens, and guinea pigs, and deep exploration of integrated academic themes. Our small, intentionally designed community allows educators to truly know each child and tailor instruction to meet diverse learning needs, while fostering strong relationships and a sense of belonging. Through intentional partnerships with community organizations, including Southern University, students gain access to enriched learning opportunities that connect classroom learning to real-world expertise. By connecting academic content to nature, community partnerships, and purposeful projects, Harvest Commons creates an environment where curiosity thrives, students take ownership of their learning, and education feels both joyful and deeply relevant.
