Our Mission

JCFA’s mission is to provide a learning environment that allows students to develop their potential; to prepare students for post-secondary education and/or the workforce; and to collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and institutions to meet students' needs.

About Us

We believe that all students are capable of excelling academically when provided with the supportive services they need to focus on their academic goals. Academic success should not be limited to what is taught in a classroom, but rather should encourage and include life experiences that help develop the whole student. A frequently asked question is “What does JCFA stand for?” and we respond that it represents Joy, Commitment, Flexibility, and Achievement. The joy we have in serving our students and their joy from experiencing academic success; the commitment our team makes to each other and our students as well as our students’ commitment to their education; the flexibility our school provides to students in how they access education and accomplish their goals; and the pride we have in and for our students when they achieve their goal of earning a high school diploma.

JCFA offers an individualized, computer-based curriculum in a small-class environment. Students receive direct support from teachers and in-class academic tutors, as well as a student support team that includes an academic counselor, a social worker, special education support, nursing services, and a Coordinator of Student Opportunities to guide them from enrollment through graduation. JCFA’s shortened day and year-round schedule enable students to create a flexible schedule that accommodates their individual needs. A student working on pace can graduate in less than three years, but has the flexibility to adjust that timeline to meet their non-academic needs. Students are allowed to pursue multiple diploma track options and are directly connected to dual enrollment as well as career and technical education courses with local community colleges.
